ROUND 5 QUAD RACE

For round five Haspin Acres greeted us with temps in the 90’s and a slight breeze with no rain in sight for the next few days!  Hot and humid were the conditions we were delt! There are several close point battles and everyone was ready to rock & roll when the TENNNNNNNN SECONDS was called out.  After the pros hit the first turn it was obvious we were going to be dealing with some dust issues out in the open field section.  I’m not sure who got any of the hole shots other than Sandy Ruth in the 26+ C Class.  I also know that Jim “I’m faster on a Honda” Cobb got hung up on the first corner in the Vet B class with one of the Marshall boys.  Someone in the 16-25 C class couldn’t get their 400ex fired up so I jumped off and helped him get it push started and ran back to my quad just in time to hook up the kill switch and take off!  Sandy Ruth hit the corner first and earned C&D Concrete hole shot money!  But he went a little wide and allowed Chad Cockrell and myself to slide by and hit the woods first.  We never came up on any large bottlenecks and the course ran in the opposite direction that it has for a few other rounds this year.  Sandy came around us on the first lap and checked out and was able to win the 26+ C class.  I never came across any wrecks or bottle necks the entire race but did see a few people stuck in some mud holes.  I’m not sure who was stuck on the Yellow Suzuki Z400 in the bright green shirt but I know he was there for awhile.  Sorry pal, I knew I wouldn’t have been able to help you out of that one!  He was in their deep!  I did stop and help B Class rider Andy Bridgewater out though.  He looked like he was in need of a hand and I needed a breather!  Note to self:  Pulling a Yamaha out of a mud hole is not a good way to get a breather!  He was kind enough to let me take off before him and then passed me a few miles later!  I was really getting tired in that heat!  On my fifth lap I heard the yell and turned around to see someone in blue jeans holler!  I knew it was Brent Howell and I couldn’t be happier to hear him!  That meant I was done at the end of this lap and there were only a couple miles left.  There is just something funny about seeing someone get on a nearly stock bike and just spank people who spend thousands of $$$$ on their quad.  I was running third at that point and ol man Brandshaw who I had been battling with all day got me with about a half mile left.  (Nice ride buddy)  So I finished fourth on the day and had a great time and didn’t break anything!  And that makes the wifey happy!!!!!!  The pro race was won by Brent Howell with Nate Beyers coming in Second with a nasty looking bent axle and Todd Demaree coming off a great ride in the Snowshoe, WV. GNCC race taking third.  I was busy talking during results so I’m not sure who won in the A Class but I do remember Evan Short taking second.  In the Vet B Cobb, took third and a special presentation was presented for the second place winner which he shared with several people!  Next race Mr. Marshal will be racing for Honey Buns!!!!!!!!!!  I was busy laughing at the Ho Ho’s and didn’t see who won the B Class but I saw the S.I.C.C. rider Fred Marley took second.  Jeff Seelig took another with Chris Bradshaw second in the 16-25 C Class.  Sandy Ruth Continued his win streak with another first place finish with Brandon Symmes (First time for him to race with us) taking second and Dean Bradshaw in third in the 26+ Class.  I didn’t see who won the first year racer class so I’m sorry that I have nothing to report on their results!  All in all I thought it was a great track and I’m getting ready for the big race on July 22nd.  It will be held at the Badlands in Attica, In and should be a great time!  There will be several things in store for this race and it is only a sign of things to come for the series.  So until then everyone visit www.ixcr.com and continue to talk smack about Meek and how much fast John would be if he was on a Honda!
